Tamara Comments on Latest Murder in Thunder Bay


When is enough…enough? When do we say we have had enough? Will it take the tragic death of a “white boy,” your son or mine, to galvanize this community into taking positive, dramatic, steps to rid our streets of these murderous thugs?
At what point do we rise up and demand the resignation of Hobbs, this City Council and Police Chief Levesque? When do we replace these dangerous incompetents with responsible, capable, people and protect ourselves? How far do we let the reputa...tion of this City sink, before we care enough to actually do something?
Hobbs and his gang have created and fostered an environment that has made these murderers feel comfortable here in Thunder Bay. Hobbs has pandered to and coddled, patronized and made excuses for, glorified and enabled, these criminals to slash out, murder and rob, at record setting, disgraceful, rates. In our City.
It is now well beyond the point where the Hobbs “family line” that they knew each other, affords the average citizen the protection all of us deserve and are entitled to. What a cowardly, disrespectful, thing to say. Do natives not deserve protection in Thunder Bay?
It is now at the point that you cannot safely send your son or daughter to the movie theatre on a Friday night without putting their lives at risk.
It is now at the point that anyone who ventures out in Thunder Bay after dark takes their life in their hands.
It is now at the point where if Hobbs and Levesque had an ounce of decency in their souls they would voluntarily confess their inability to protect us and resign.
It is now at the point that the atmosphere of permissive lawlessness – that some of us are above the law, that someone us can commit illegal acts without consequence – that Hobbs and Levesque have fostered and engendered, puts the lives of each and every one of us at risk every minute of the day.
It is now at the point if we don’t take positive action against Hobbs and Levesque we are as crazy as they are.
It is now at the point where I for one demand the immediate resignation of Hobbs and Levesque.
I don’t want to live in fear any longer. I don’t want my son to become another Hobbs and Levesque statistic. Do you?

Response to Chief Levesques Letter


If you say no one is above the law and no one has the right to illegally blockade our roads, the mayor will come out against you and attempt to publicly humiliate you.
If you offer a reward for the arrest of anyone of the 7 punks who viciously committed an unprovoked attack on a ”white boy,” the Police Chief comes out and publicly denounces you and your reward.
In addition, certain natives will refer to your reward as a “bounty on natives” and march against you, hop up on food court furniture and shout to people not to vote for you. On top of furniture. Shouting and waving flags in Intercity Mall. While people are eating. Real classy. Real considerate. Real illegal.
Chief Levesque could have privately contacted me to say ”Tamara I understand your frustration but the way you presented your reward is not how we handle such situations.” Privately.
After all, it’s not as if anyone else is offering rewards to combat crime. Only one person is offering rewards. Me. Instead Chief Leveque chose to publicly rebuff me for attempting to assist the police in getting 7 hoodlums off our streets.
Let’s look closer at exactly what our Chief of Police wrote.
The first matter that caught my eye was that I gave “erroneous information regarding the Thunder Bay Police’s involvement with the reward.” Not at all. What I said was if you know something call the cops and if and when they say “pay Tamara,” I will do so without question. The only ”error” I see here is my believing the cops would appreciate the help.
Next, Levesque said I gave the wrong phone number, as if the number I provided was for a Chinese takeout place or something. Well Chief, the number I gave – 623 8477 – just happens to be the number for Crime Stoppers. Not a bad place to start of you’re trying to “STOP” crime. It appears to me Chief you’re going out of your way to make me look foolish.
The Chief goes on to say rewards would not be considered unless “… all other investigative avenues have been exhausted.” Ok. It’s been over two and half months since the crime was committed, what’s left to do?
Chief Levesque then states rewards are only offered in “high profile cases.” It appears the Chief doesn’t realize that to mothers like myself, this case is pretty damn high profile. Further, Chief Levesque is obviously totally unaware that a cash reward of up to $2000 dollars has been offered by Crime Stoppers ( on their website) for information concerning damage done to 6 TREES on ST. PAUL STREET, that’s right everyone….TREES on ST. PAUL STREET. Boy Chief, there’s a “high profile” crime for ya!
More importantly Chief, I don’t care what has been done in the past, I’m running for a seat on City Council to bring new ideas and a fresh, innovative, approach to municipal affairs – including policing our City. I don’t want to hear “that’s not how we do it,” because your old and tired ideas aren’t working. You should embrace – not resist - positive change.
The Chiefs words then get real interesting because he points out a totally irrelevant illegal act ( soliciting for the return of stolen property) and then, almost reluctantly, concludes that I have not committed a crime. Me, that I haven’t committed a crime. Me. One crime the Chief doesn’t mention is the vicious, unprovoked, attack and beating on a “white boy.” Nor does he mention the illegalities committed by those protesting the “bounty” they believe I have put on natives. But he mentions stolen property and that I haven’t committed a crime. Go figure!
In fairness, I have to agree with the Chief that I should have made an effort to provide the Police Dept. with my intention to run a reward. In hindsight, that would have been the right thing to do. However, from the attitude expressed by the Chief, that would clearly have gotten me absolutely no where.
As of today, here is the situation concerning the reward. The reward stands. If you know something call the cops. If the cops take the call and arrest someone, I will pay the reward. The Chief needn’t worry about evidence, evidence is only relevant to a conviction. If a conviction results great, but we all know nothing will happen to these hoodlums anyway.
Chief I believe your time would have been better utilized by publicly stating: “A reward is not a bounty. A reward is a very useful tool to combat criminal activity. To disturb the peace in expressing your opposition to a legitimate, sincere, albeit uncoordinated reward offer, is not how we behave in an orderly, just, lawful, society.” How about that Chief?
Chief now that I have started the reward process, please provide us with the procedures your office wishes that we follow to offer rewards in the future. Why? Because if I get elected, I can absolutely guarantee you more rewards will be offered.
The police officers that I have spoken with tell me that JP Levesque is a good Chief of Police. I have to respect their opinion, because theirs is a knowledgeable, an informed opinion. I would be foolish to disregard their “front line” views.
So we have a good Chief, but a serious crime problem. Doesn’t seem to make sense does it? But I trust the street officer’s opinions implicitly, so there must be another reason. Could it be that Hobbs’ is “handcuffing” Chief Levesque from properly exercising his duties and responsibilities as Chief? Hobbs, after all, clearly believes some of us are above the law.
Chief Leveque the fact is we live in “Murder City” and you are the Chief of Police in “Murder City.” Eventually someone has to be held accountable, because we are living in a very dangerous environment. Eventually, people will begin to look to you for answers. Who else should they turn to? Public Works? Parks and Rec? John Hannam and the Aboriginal Strategy Office?
Ok Chief Levesque you want to address me publicly. Fine. Address these questions publicly.
1. Did Thunder Bay Police ever provide the CJ with details of the crime outlined in Ian Robinson’s letter?
2. If not, why not?
3. If you did and the CJ didn’t print or cover this vicious racial attack, why did you not then take it upon yourself to write a letter to the editor warning the parents of “white boys” of this gang of hoodlums?
4. Are you aware of any similar or other attacks that you are not publishing details of?
5. Have you ever taken any steps to ascertain if in fact crime statistics in Thunder Bay have been manipulated, or otherwise shuffled, to give the illusion that crime is down in Thunder Bay?
You chose the public forum Chief Levesque. Now answer these questions publicly. Please, don’t be like all the rest, and only make public statements when you can criticize “white girls” who are trying to do something to combat crime in our City.

Women in Politics


I see many discussions about women in politics on many of the candidates and incumbents pages. Where were they when a 41 year old business woman was accused of being motivated by hate and racism thus giving the green light to have people "get me with death threats, protests and vandalism. Oh I understand it completely ... tiny 5 feet 2 inch "white" woman do not fall into this category! So spare me the  ..I care about women approach.

Store Closures Due to Crime


I read some comments on a thread that suggested store owners should shut down their businesses in the evening to ward off a string of robberies that happened recently. I'm sorry but store owners are already pro active in keeping their staff safe. If stores cannot operate their businesses free of crime in a 24 hour period what the hell is that saying people? Why must our lives be disrupted by criminals? Residents of our City shouldn't have to accept this. Why not our City take the pro active approach in making our streets safe and send people a strong message that we won't put up with their crap anymore! I'm sorry crime prevention needs a complete overhaul as it tip toes around issues and is clearly afraid to hurt a few feelings in dealing with this heavily concerning issue.

The Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office


Tax payers: want to save a million dollars in about 3 years, simply with just a stroke of a pen? Want to put more police officers on our streets, or reduce everyone’s taxes by a million dollars, simply by the stroke of a pen? Better still, want to accomplish any of these advantages with absolutely no loss whatsoever of any City service and no loss whatsoever of any benefit currently provided to residents of our City?
You can do this, if you get rid of the Thunder Bay Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office.
You may recall that on page A7 of the Saturday June 14th, 2014 edition of the Chronicle Journal, City Clerk John Hannam referred to my full page provincial election ad and stated it contained “…quite frankly appalling statements…” Hannam went on to say my ad was “…an example of the need for important work like the Aboriginal Liaison Strategy…” A sentence later, it was revealed that Hannam was the “manager” of Thunder Bay’s Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office.
The only “important” work the Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office ever accomplished was to refer to my statements “no one is above the law” and “no one is entitled to illegally blockade our roads,” etc., as “appalling.” I don’t know how “important” you readers feel Hannam’s comments were, but in my opinion, his words were of no importance whatsoever. In that nothing else – important or otherwise – was ever accomplished by the Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office, I stated it was an utter, total, waste of tax payer money – and it is.
Subsequently, I discussed Hannam’s comments and posted that I was writing the City to ascertain if Hannam was being paid to manage Thunder Bay’s Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office. I also wanted to know what the budget for this ”office” was? What was it costing the tax payers? Additionally, I asked if Hannam got this job through Hobbs. At the time, I provided you readers with a copy of my letter to the City.
Hannam has since personally responded to my letter. He acknowledged that he was, in fact, being paid to manage Thunder Bay’s Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office, but he wouldn’t say exactly how much. He said his pay was included in his salary as City Clerk and, evidently, he was unable to define what portion of his salary was attributable to his duties as City Clerk and what portion would be attributable to his additional duties as manager of the Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office.
Hannam said he did not receive any additional money for managing this office. I say, if he wasn’t managing this office, he would, necessarily, be paid less. It only makes sense. You know what I think? I think he was too embarrassed to reveal what his buddy Hobbs is sliding him to “manage” this office.
Regardless, we have positively established that Hobbs paid Hannam – with your money – to run me down. Real important work. Real good use of tax payer dollars. Voters, this isn’t rocket science and I’m one hell of a long way from being a scientist, but when someone attacks another for saying “no one is above the law,” you can bet your life they are being paid. Money. They all do it for money. Hobbs attacked me to pander to native voters. You paid for it. Hobbs gets the votes on your dime – not his. Money.
Hannam stated that the budget for Thunder Bay’s Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office is $281,400.00 annually. $281,400.00, plus whatever portion of Hannam’s wages would be attributable to his duties regarding this office. So voters, you are probably paying well over $300,000.00 a year for this ridiculous, utter, total, waste. Almost 1 MILLION DOLLARS in three years – and that is without any budgetary increases, or any raises to Hannam for managing this “important work.” Hannam said the City Manager hired him. The City Manager works for Hobbs. Hannam also said this office is now called the “Aboriginal Liaison Unit.” He must have changed the name because in the CJ the name was exactly as I have stated. The word “strategy” has apparently been deleted. I guess there is no longer any “strategy.”
Voters please ask yourself “ why haven’t the incumbent City Councillors told you about this disgraceful waste?” Also, ask “why haven’t those seeking election told you about this?” You know why? This issue involves natives and they are afraid to be called a racist. All. Everyone. Everyone, that is, except ME.
Sadly, this worthless, redundant, waste of tax payer’s money was never intended to do anything of value. It was always pure “window dressing.” It was simply an opportunity for Hobbs to pander to native voters and provide a means for his suck hole side-kick Hannam to stuff his pockets with your money. Further, I am willing to bet few of you even knew of the existence of this money pit, until Hannam came out, at Hobbs press conference, to run me down.
Hobbs and Hannam are in the “anti racism business.” Anti racism pays well. In fact, anti racism pays so well, they have to search for racism where it doesn’t exist. They have to put on a “show,” hold a press conference, to justify the votes and cash they have saved and pocketed.
Last night at the Public Forum, I stated that I would get rid of the Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office. I was booed. In the same sentence, I also mentioned that I disagree with the “policy” of Shelter house to feed alcohol to alcoholics. Free. Your tax money is paying for the booze. I sincerely believe this practice is not helping these people and, in fact, only perpetuates their addiction. I know a little about alcoholism. I have big, gapping, hole where 70% of my liver used to be to prove it. And it wasn’t my liver that alcohol destroyed, by the way.
Further, what a disservice this “policy” does to the excellent efforts, for decades, of Alcoholics Anonymous and its system of meetings and support groups. I subscribe to the notion of “one day at a time.”
For making a statement on these two issues, I was booed. Not one candidate, or any moderator, supported my right to present my views without harassment, even as they wore “RESPECT” buttons that were handed out at the door. And not one single person, out of the hundred present, stated one good reason for keeping the wasteful Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office. They want it, but they don’t know why?
Last weeks CJ told of Police Chief Levesque going to Council to beg for $75,000 to replace two police cars. Hobbs and Hannam are burning enough of your tax dollars at this ridiculous sham “office” to buy eight patrol cars each year! What would you rather have? What’s more, why should Chief Levesque even have to go to Council to ask for money? Why isn’t this Council asking him “what do you need Chief?” “How can we help?”
Let’s be honest everyone, Hobbs Aboriginal Liaison Strategy Office is all optics, all show. This abomination was established to demonstrate to everyone entering City Hall how enlightened, how progressive, how socially conscious, Hobbs and his Council are.
If they are so damned enlightened and progressive, why do we have a record setting murder rate and the reputation of “Murder City?” Why are our streets not safe? Why are “white boys” beaten? Why are visitors mugged outside their hotels? Why are shop keepers arming themselves with baseball bats?
From a native perspective, natives have more than sufficient advocacy organizations and this ”show piece” simply isn’t necessary to ensure their interests are protected. It is redundant and this redundancy will cost the tax payers of this City almost a million dollars in the next three years. A million dollars we don’t have. We are almost 200 million in debt. Incidentally, this debt, this astronomical debt, was one of the “facts” Aldo Ruberto conveniently forgot to mention at last night’s forum.
Another ”fact” Aldo Ruberto forgot to mention, is the fact that Hobbs and this arrogant Council treat this City as their own personal “fiefdom.” They finance Shang- Ra-la with your tax money and say don’t you dare have the audacity to question us. Here’s some news Hobbs and Council: You don’t “own” Thunder Bay. You are just “renting” it….and your lease is about to expire.
Avoiding controversial issues to get votes has NEVER got in the way of my speaking the truth. Avoiding controversial issues to get votes has ALWAYS prevented the other candidates from speaking the truth.
Voters do you really want to re-elect and reward Hobbs and this arrogant Council, for a job well done? Do you? Can you?

re:Letter Dropped of at Brodie St Library


The police called the other day. Constable M ( I am going to refer to the officer as Constable M and preserve his anonymity, as he may have been ordered to contact me) texted me at 830 at night and asked me to immediately come to the police station to talk about the letter that was dropped off a while ago at the Brodie Street Library.
I told the Constable that I didn’t drop the letter off and that I had no knowledge whatsoever of who did. Constable M stated to me that because my name was mentioned in the letter, they wanted to talk to me that night, and at that time of night. Because I had no one to go with me and I didn’t want to go alone, I didn’t go.
The next day I obtained legal advice concerning this request by the police and was advised that it would be very foolish of me to go to the police station to discuss a crime I did not commit and have absolutely no knowledge of. It was pointed out to me that the crime occurred more than a week previous, so why ask me in now? It was also thought odd that the police didn’t come to me at my convenience, but instead, asked that I go to them - immediately.
In addition, I learned that the simple act of attending at the police station to discuss a crime, could result in the creation of an electronic “file” on me that I would carry, perhaps, forever. Further, it was suggested, that I could be, surreptitiously, recorded, photographed, and even have my finger prints “taken.” Constable M did not mention any of this.
I then considered my recent experience with the Thunder Bay Police. I thought of the following:
1. No charges have been laid against any one of the individuals who stated “they would find me and kill me,” that I would “end up in a ditch,” or that they “hoped I would be lynched.” No charges. None.
2. No charges were laid against the individual who screamed and yelled at the door of my business. When the police attended they falsely told me that my business was “public property” and they shook the demonstrators hands before leaving. No one shook my hand and no charges were laid. None.
3. No charges were laid against the individual who plastered the door of my business and demonstrated at my door and all over town. He did get his picture taken shaking hands with Clint Harris of the Chronicle Journal however, but no charges were laid. None.
4. No charges were laid against any of the hoodlums who demonstrated against me at the InterCity food court. They hopped up on the furniture, yelled and screamed and waved flags while denouncing me, but no charges were laid. None.
My next thoughts concerned my recent experience with Police Chief Levesque. I asked myself the following questions:
1. What kind of Police Chief would write a letter to the CJ to condemn a citizen for offering a reward for the arrest of the 7 punks who viciously committed an unprovoked attack on a “white boy?”
2. What kind of Police Chief would falsely state in his letter that the citizen who offered the reward gave “erroneous information” in the reward offer?
3. What kind of Police Chief would intentionally play with the truth and the facts in his letter to create the understanding on the part of the reader that the citizen offering the reward couldn’t even get the phone number for the Police correct, when the truth is that the number provided was the correct number for Crime Stoppers?
4. What kind of Police Chief would state in his letter that rewards are only for “high profile crimes” when he himself is offering a reward for a few bent and broken trees?
5. What kind of Police Chief would take even one single moment “off” from trying to arrest this City’s 8th murderer, to write such a letter? Voters we have a murderer living among us. What are Chief Levesque’s priorities?
I then considered my recent statements concerning crime statistics. Anyone who reads these pages is aware that I have suggested Thunder Bay’s crime statistics are being manipulated to create the illusion crime is down. Chief Levesque may not have appreciated these comments, but I believe they are fair comments. Think about it everyone. We know Chief Levesque was willing and prepared to distort the truth to cast me, a nobody, in the worst possible light. Why then, is it not fair to question whether he is equally willing and equally prepared to distort the truth concerning crime statistics to cast himself and his department in the best possible light?
At the end of this thought process, I did not feel Chief Levesque was a man I could trust. In fact, because he has already treated me unfairly and has already attempted to hurt me, I felt he was a man I should fear.
And of course, I couldn’t forget our Mayor - Levesque’s Boss - Hobbs. Hobbs called a Press Conference for the sole and specific purpose of labeling me as being “ clearly motivated by hate and racism.” Why? Because I said no one was above the law. And I said no one could illegally blockade our roads. And I said no group has “special super citizen status,” etc. etc. Hobbs “clearly” believes otherwise.
Hobbs was my judge and his suckhole sidekick Hannam and a group of native “leaders” were my jury. The accused – me – was not invited to attend the trial. Not surprisingly, the verdict was guilty and my sentence was Hobbs issued a “licence “ to anyone and everyone, all the crazies, to “get me.”
Remember everyone, this all began when I stated gas and tobacco sales on the reserve unfairly disadvantaged retailers in our City. Subsequently, I learned reserve sales were not only unfair, but in some cases illegal.
Chief Morrisseau and others went nuts. They couldn’t accept the fact I wouldn’t apologize and/or back down. They couldn’t believe, or accept, that anyone would have the gall to question any aspect of native behavior. They had to do something, so they reached down into their bag of responses and pulled out the Race Card. I had to be a racist.
Did one single elected representative of this City come out on behalf of the tax payers being hurt by native retailing illegality? Not a chance. Not a single one. Every last one was willing to let a tax payer suffer, rather than risk upsetting a few natives. Everyone that is, except me.
The primary consideration in the minds of our Mayor and our entire City Council, when deciding whether or not to speak out on a given issue, is “will speaking out hurt me politically, will speaking out hinder my receiving more pay cheques?”
Their primary consideration should be “how can I assist my constituents? ” They can’t pick and choose who they are going to help and who they are going to ignore. When the issue involved includes tax payers being adversely affected by the illegal behaviour of non-residents, there should be no deliberation process whatsoever. They should rush to the aid of the tax payer. They should speak out on his behalf. Who else does the tax payer have to turn to?
I stood up and defended tax payers. I did exactly what Hobbs and his cowardly council should have been doing.
Why didn’t Hobbs and the rest speak out on behalf of the tax payer?
Hobbs is easy. His grand standing is easily understood. He was out for publicity and, ultimately, votes. There was an election coming up. Hobbs is a transparent, selfish, phoney. I’m not so sure his efforts met with the success he envisioned. We will see.
As for council, what you have to understand is that in put them all in a bad position. Unless they are brain dead, they know full well I am speaking the truth, but they can’t agree with me because they will be called racist. Their chances for election, or re-election, will be hurt. No one likes a racist. No one would vote for a racist. So they do nothing and they say nothing. They can’t stand up for truth, justice, and equality, because they will jeopardize their political future and their political pay cheques. How then can I do so, you ask? Simple. I don’t have a political future. Hell half ( more? ) of the world hates me. That’s ok. What I am saying is still the truth.
As for Chief Morrisseau and her gang? They have to attack me because my words are the beginning, the first crack in the protective shell of political correctness that surrounds the issues I have spoken of. Those affected by my words, have to mount an attack against me to desperately attempt to preserve the status quo.
Unfortunately, the status quo involves blatant inequality and injustice. They believe that if I am not quickly and decisively condemned, others may begin to freely express their views on these issues. They have to make an example of me to demonstrate to you – warn the rest of you – that no opposition will be tolerated.
They have to “get“ me, to stop you - stop anyone and everyone - who may have the audacity to question their exalted “special super citizen status” and the benefits that flow from such status. Silence - your silence - equals acceptance and preserves and protects the inequality and injustice.
So Constable M, having regard to all of the above, I will not be coming to the police station. I will not walk innocent and alone into the Lion’s Den. Now if you truly wish to discuss the “Library letter” with me, I invite you to visit me at the Tim Hortons by Montana’s at 8pm on Tuesday evening. I am also inviting some friends - you readers- to attend. I will allow you to photograph me and record my words.
As for the rest of the world, you can call me whatever you want; march as far as you want; hop up on as many food court tables as you want and wave as many flags as you want; you can call as many Press Conferences as you want and you can write as many Letters to the Editor as you want. I don’t care what the hell you do.
I will not stop. I will not shut up. I will not go away, until the voters tell me to go away and then I will go away forever.
